Merging your photo’s into a whole new image - to take it into imagination that re-frames the image and enhances the optic beyond the original shot.
’Spirit of the Woods’ depicting age and wisdom cast to the shadows, nature reflects its abhorration of what we are doing to the world
Horse buddies digital painting framed - classic art done digitally, once framed the image sits beautifully in your home. Whether canvas mounted or behind glass the Giclee print gives high definition colour to ensure your painting is a centerpiece for any room.
Sculpted in Series - the Same abstract sculpture painting - captured in a different background that gives a mood and completely new perspective to the piece.
‘ Young at Heart ‘ but getting older! Represented by A rusting scooter going to root down a back alley, reflecting a youth movement that captured an age of Britishness and left its mark
Captured in bronze - 3D effects are dependant on shadows that separate the background from the subject. A beaten copper effect adds to the concept of restraining the subject in the background, as if it wants to escape its predicament or stay frozen and beaten.
Paws- still life shoot with a willing model. Reflections of childhood in each composition with the blackboard capturing a message and paw logo. Subtle changes in lighting to add atmosphere.
Blending photos is not new - It’s just easier with technology. the Artist still needs to ensure the composition works and has appeal. Even in the 1920’s photographers were exposing multiple photographs to one single image. Here is a couple I have done and are available as prints on my photography section.
“ The Commute” Dawn breaking on westminster bridge (digital painting) I have done this walk many times,10 years travelling into London. Those Autumn and Winter mornings when darkness seems to start and finish your commute.
Some times you just got to get up early and go out there or miss the magnificence that nature provides to the eye. I could walk this path a thousand times more and not get the same shot. This shoot was at 6am no people on the path just me and the emerging light. It was calm and creative. On reviewing the image I got the same feeling. So for me not only the moment but the emotion is captured in these shots.
Lit by candlelight- Photographing in the Dark using other ways of lighting the scene is a great great way to add some drama smooth out and appease a reluctant sitter, directing the focus to the candles. A reflective surface to pick up the reflections and a longer exposure to pick up the light defraction
Photo Merging - taking photos a creating a memory that celebrates family, loved pets or a person and what they loved to work at.This is not AI. I take the photos and match resolution and colouring then create masks that blend the images by art effects.
"I've been trying to find someone to merge a picture of my dad and my children and grandchild but with no great success. Then we discovered Andy Twells and his amazing gift, thank you so much Andy, we love the results. Best regards Angela Semple"
Subtle colouring with water marks, leaving plenty of the textured paper to frame the art adds to the water colour
Seven years between painting the eagle and adding the flag.why? At some point in my journey I was happy with the eagle as a suggestion of detail emerging from the dark. As I have been readying my website some painting didn’t make it on. So I asked my self why? Can I remaster an acrylic painting to be more appealing and be in keeping with the original intent or simply paint over it? This one made it to the remastered pile.
Different perspectives. Part of taking a great photo is looking at the subject and all around to understand if you can change the perspective. In doing so you create a more interesting and dynamic image. I am always looking to add the point of interest. Beyond the point and shoot.
Aged to perfection, could have been taken over 100 years ago, Applying silver-tones to shots I took yesterday really lend a timeless aging whist hinting at some colours in the grey tones, that really captured the feel of the day. the National trust preserves and runs properties so we can experience a bygone age. Seems appropriate to age the shots
I was at Dad’s resting place in Llay cemetery on Friday with Mum and we caught a beautiful double rainbow that was so vivid I had to shoot it -then paint it. The conversation ensued on where the rainbow touched and personally I hope it touched Dad.
Oil Brushes to achieve a more painterly effect was used on this digital image, with the focus on the electricity running through the bulb, yet not connected. Finding the source of hope and positivity can be a daily challenge. But it’s there if you want to find it.
Pastel brushes give a soft finish, the detail is there but blended. This leopard is waiting patiently ,surveying his quarry. It has a confidence that radiates the years of success in hunting, no rush but breakfast is imminent.
loosening up, I have always been a detail painter which leaves little for the eye and the emotion to compute. Lately I am trying some looser styling allowing the brush to do the talking and suggesting detail only.
I love the atmosphere it creates. from a distance it looks polished close up you can see the strokes and intentional blocking.
Majestic. The koi is not only a majestic fish it is revered in Asian culture. There is an old legend that tells of a koi that swims upstream to a waterfall known as the dragon gate. It leaps over the fall and is transformed into a powerful dragon. As they majestically move across their habitat know they Aspire to be dragons.
Recent trip to USA to see My son and his wife.”Old Pioneer House”. Culver, Jefferson County, Oregon.
Surrounded by the cascade mountains, at the end of the Oregon trail. It represents a piece of history surrounded by people still farming, standing as a tribute to the industry, endeavour and stamina for those that set out to carve out a new future for themselves and their families. Back in June I had the privilege of photographing a friends wedding. I found it creative and inspiring to be trusted to deliver something that can not be captured after the event. It has given me the confidence to offer the service to you
Portrait Commisions- from ancestors, parents, children to Legends. capturing the character of the person can bring great comfort in memory every time you gaze or simply walk past it in your home. It evokes memories, pride and quality that sits apart from photography. Every brush stroke is there with purpose to present a likeness to cherish forever.
Lest We forget! With Rememberance day looming this is my tribute to all those that gave their tomorrow for my today.
Is digital art real Art? In the age of AI and instant gratification with convenience, it can be misleading. On reflection is a digital painting that took me 6 hours from line drawing to finished image. Could I paint it in Acrylic on canvas? Yep.
Same method more messy and here's the real benefit of digital, if the painting was original you would have to studio shoot it to get a multiple print image. Perhaps if the lightings off you would have to manipulate the image digitally anyhow. With the digital painting every time it's the original high resolution no light diffraction that isn't intended and still capturing the Artists intent fully.
